| NOTE: Remember that when getting from the
Honolulu [HNL] terminal to the commuter airline terminal that it is in a
separate part of the airport. For reference, United uses Gates 6 to 11 at
the far east end of the terminal. Aloha Island Air
[do not confuse them with Aloha Airlines which many newcomers do] uses the
small commuter terminal to the west and across the parking lot. The Honolulu
airport is a medium size airport. You can walk from the United gates to the
Island Air gates in about 15 to 20 minutes. The commuter terminal is a
ground level but I recommend walking all the way through to the Hawaiian
Air counters before going downstairs to ground level. You may also take the
Wiki Wiki tram but it takes about the same amount of time.
I noticed this winter that there is
still almost no signage in the main terminal and there is none on the
outside of the commuter terminal let alone anything that says "Commuter
Terminal" or "Island Air." It's OK, to ask. Remember to walk all the way to
the north end --- toward the mountains -- to the Island Air Reservations and
Check-In. Seats are not assigned on this small twin engine 50 passenger Dash 8 plane. |
